Niskayuna – Jean B. Murnaghan passed from this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. She was 83 years of age. Jean was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Mary G. (Cummings) Murnaghan and sister of Lorraine M. Hogroian and the late Mary (Connie) Fitzgerald; dear aunt of Alan N. Mendlesohn, III, Patricia Anne Fender, Deborah F. Mendlesohn and Holly D. Selleck. Also surviving are several grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Raised and educated in Schenectady, Jean was a graduate of Mount Aloysius College. She was employed by General Electric Schenectady for 10 years and International General Electric in New York City for two years before relocating to Philadelphia where she was employed by Amtrak for 23 years. In retirement, Jean returned to Schenectady and was a communicant of the former St. Helen’s Parish now St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 am in St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 1803 Union Street, Schenectady. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Jean’s family on Monday from 2 until 4 pm at the JONES Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street, Schenectady.
