Simme Cynkin Klebanow, a New Rochelle resident, passed away October 20, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born February 28, 1926 in Jerusalem, Israel to the late Naftali and Chana Cynkin.

She married Norman Klebanow on May 4, 1981. He predeceases her.

Simme was a Professor of Occupational therapy at Columbia University in NYC, where she was also an autor of textbooks for the University as well.

She is survived by her children, Susan Plath of Hartsdale, NY, Mickey Klebanow of Arizona and Kenneth Klebanow of Maryland. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Mai Plath, David Plath, Scott Plath, Didi Laufer, Michael Klebanow, Laura Klebanow and Nathan Klebanow and her great grandchildren; Aislyn Plath, Tara Plath, Kelli Plath, Lucky Plath, Spirit Plath, Jack Klebanow, Jason Klebanow, Kate Kelly and Olivia Laufer along with her cousins Karen and Rodney Cohen, Doreen and Lionel Wolpert.

“Mom, Grandma, Simme – all of our lives were enhanced by your love, warmth, grace, wisdom and sense of humor. You were a classy, highly intelligent lady. We will so miss you, but you will always be in our hearts.”
