Thomas Parker Lewis

In loving memory of Thomas Parker Lewis, author and publisher, who passed from this life on June 2nd, 2019 in White Plains, NY at age 82 after a long illness. His works include the young readers’ favorites Hill of Fire, Clipper Ship, Call for Mr. Sniff and additional titles. Mr. Lewis attended Milton Academy (class of 1953), Princeton University, and Columbia University where he received his B.A. in American history. He also pursued graduate studies at Columbia, following the receipt of his Bachelor’s degree. He served from 1956 to 1959 in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. For 20 years he helped manage the Library Promotion Department at Harper & Row, publishers, later Harper Collins, after which he formed his own company, Pro Am Music Resources. Under that imprint he published books by George Jellinek, Raymond Leppard, and other musicians and music historians, as well as his own Music and Mythology. Mr. Lewis’s encyclopedic knowledge of all things related to classical music, philosophy and great literature was celebrated and cherished by his family and friends. His deep love and appreciation of life, the natural world and the beauty of the arts will be greatly missed.<br> <br>Mr. Lewis was devoted to supporting the well-being of others, by championing their professional projects and being a dear friend. He created and maintained working professional and support groups for fellow authors and community members. Mr. Lewis also volunteered at the White Plains Hospital for several years, providing cheer and emotional comfort for patients in need. He was an unwavering friend and his loss will be felt greatly by those whose lives he touched. <br><br>He is survived by his loving family: his children, Abigail Lewis Stovman, Peter Sloan Lewis, Emily Ivins Lewis Fucheck; three grandchildren, Maxwell and Sophia Fucheck and Brandon Stovman; his sister, Dianne Lewis Bonney; as well as his former wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Sloan Lewis, his sons-in-law David Fucheck and Blake Stovman, and daughter-in-law Julianna Schley. His partner of 30 years, Karen R. Baker, preceded his passing in the fall of 2017.<br><br>Donations in the name of Thomas P. Lewis may be sent to the Michael J.
