Barbara Huntley Wright, age 83, of Asheville went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 10, 2017 after an extended illness. Mrs. Wright was born August 9, 1933 in Buncombe County to the late Aden and Nora Huntley. She was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church for 32 years serving as the financial secretary from 1983-1991. Barbara was also financial secretary for the Buncombe Baptist Resource Center from 1993-2002 when she retired. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Wright; son, David Wright; and sister, Betty Styles. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Peggy Shimkus (Todd); sister, Mary Walker; grandchildren, Lauren, Tori, Cassie, Aden, Madison, Noah, and Briana; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10:00am to 11:30am at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service following at 12:00 pm with Rev. Doug Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
