Anne Marie Rector

Anne Marie Rector, 73, recently of Easley, South Carolina, formerly of Brevard, North Carolina and Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan died April 16th, 2019. Anne was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 23rd, 1945 to Paul and Noreen Hirzel. The second eldest of eight children, she attended Catholic school in Detroit, Michigan and nursing school in Ontario, Canada before accepting a job at The Children’s Hospital in Detroit. There she joined the effort of starting the second Children’s dialysis unit in the United States. During her time as a pediatric nurse, she met her loving husband Fredrick “Fritz” a resident pediatric surgeon at Children’s Hospital who she was married to for over 50 years. She was the beloved mother to Rebecca and Matthew. Cherished sister to Betty (Depage), Matthew Hirzel, Patrick Hirzel, Paula (Hindelang), Margaret Hirzel, Daniel Hirzel, Kathleen (Green) and sister-in-law Nancy (Brown). Anne lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and friend. She loved plants and flowers, becoming a Master Gardener and a host to the Grosse Pointe Garden Tour. You could often find Anne in the kitchen whipping up an incredible meal on the fly, she was an enthusiastic cook. She had a passion for sewing and loved to make homemade gifts for family and friends. Anne was an artist with a gift for drawing and painting. She was a true friend to all that knew her. Anne will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 20, 2019 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Hendersonville, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday April 19, 2019 and from 10-10:45 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
