Betty Mcgaha Obituary

Betty Louise Meece McGaha, 82, died Thursday, May 27th at Transylvania Regional Hospital after a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family.  Betty was a native of Transylvania County, born here on March 29, 1928 to the late Tillman Meece and Myrtle Brown Meece.

Betty married the love of her life, Carl Brisco McGaha on August 2, 1952.  They were happily married for 54 years until his death in 2007.  She was baptized as one of the most dedicated and faithful of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1968.

She never worked outside of the home.  She was a devoted wife, and took care of her mother, her siblings, her daughter, grandson, great grand babies, and anyone else she felt she could help.

“Annie Gaha”, as she was lovingly called by her family, is survived by her only daughter, Debbie Wilson and her husband Jimmy, of Brevard. Her grandson, Carl Travis and his wife Summer, and her pride and joy, her great-grand children, Maggie and Brisco Travis, all of Brevard.   She is also survived by siblings, Mary Gillespie and her husband C.E, of Brevard, Bill Meece, of Brevard,  Wayne Garren of Arden, and Paul Meece of Georgia.  She was preceded in death by other siblings, Charles Lee Meece, David Meece, and Sandra Garren.   She is also survived by many brothers and sisters of like faith, whom she loved very much.

Betty was a loving and caring woman who spent her spare time crocheting and making things for others, or working in her flowers.  She loved to be outside working and watching over her family.  She was a dedicated sister that spent much of her time sharing the Truth, with whomever she could.

A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Batson Street in Brevard.  Everyone is invited to the family’s home after the Memorial for a reception and time of remembrance and Celebration of a woman who will be greatly missed.
