Rev. Carole Starnes Fossen, of Cedar Mountain NC passed away at home January 4th, 2010. Born May 11th, 1945 in Sandpoint, Idaho, she was 64 years old. She was preceded in death by her father, Troy Bond Starnes Sr. and her brother, David Bruce Starnes.
She is survived by two daughters, Rev. Jordan Rae Mikena of El Paso, TX and Megan B. Crone of Crete, Illinois; her mother Rev. Marian Y. Starnes and brother, Troy Bond Starnes Jr. of Terra Nova Center in Cedar Mountain, NC.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rev. Lianne B. Starnes, three grandchildren, 1st Lt. Sean Alan Wolf, US Army—Afghanistan, Gavin Bigos 12 and Colby Bigos 10 of Crete, Illinois.
Other survivors are three nephews and a niece, Phillip Starnes, Pisgah Forest, NC, Shayne Starnes, Charlotte, NC, and Jason Starnes with the US Army in Iraq. Her only niece, Alisha Starnes, lives in Powell, Wyoming.
A non-denominational Christian minister, Carole had a passion for animals, and was the founder and director of Terra Nova center’s Animal Lighthouse.
A memorial service will be held at the Terra Nova Center Chapel—3475 Reasonover Road, Cedar Mountain, NC at 2:00PM Saturday, January 23rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Terra Nova Center or the Spay-Neuter Clinic, Noah’s ARC or Friends for Life, all of Brevard, NC.
