Charles Heath Obituary

Charles Francis Heath, 84, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Aston and Lucille Wilson Heath. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Lynne Powers. Mr. Heath served in the U. S. Navy with Seabees and the naval reserve for 28 years and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was a member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and leader of the senior adult activities, a charter member of the Pisgah Forest Lions Club, a former President Transylvania Youth Association and Treasurer of the Transylvania Youth Football. Mr. Heath spent some years in Tucson and learned to make Hopi kachina dolls, and flutes, he enjoys carveing miniature quail, elephants, turkeys and “Love Spoons”. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Weston Heath; daughters, Beth Wartick and husband Kelvin of Seneca, SC, and Lynn Lorenz and husband J. D. of Topeka, KS; sons, Mike Heath and wife Debbie of Seneca, SC, and Tommy Heath and wife Helen of Martinsville, VA; sister, Louise Cotton of Lake Charles, LA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church with the Rev. James Walter officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County. A reception will immediately follow the graveside rites at the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, WNC Chapter, P.O. Box 748, Asheville, NC 28802, or to one’s favorite charity.
