Charles Whitmire Obituary

Charles Arthur Whitmire 83 of Reid Siding Road went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2013 at 2 am after an extended illness. He felt truly blessed by the Lord for his wife, family, and friends. He is the son of the late Lynch and Mamie Whitmire. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty four years Geraldine Shelton Whitmire. He is a blessed father to six children Glenda Thompson, Virginia Honeycutt, Arthur Dean Whitmire, Pamela Ann Galloway, Laury Pressley, and Stacy Whitmire. He has 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great grandchildren whom adore him. He was preceded in death by 3 sons Leonard Delmar Whitmire, Bobby Keith Whitmire, and Toby Whitmire. He was a caring brother to Judith Orr (deceased), Lucille Cox (deceased), Bruce Whitmire, Otis Whitmire, Lynch Jr. Whitmire, Douglas Whitmire, and Margaret Smith. He was a faithful member of the Rosman Church of God. He worked as Forman of the Gloucester Lumber Company for 22 years, then worked and retired from the Olin/Ecusta Paper Mill after 25 years of service. Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Rosman Church of God conducted by Revs. Bill Bruner, Michael Pressley, Kyle Reese, and Don Littleton. Interment followed at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family received friends from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm Friday evening at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
