Dorothy Lorena Whitmire Owen "Tinker" 73 of Rosman died peacefully on Jan 8th at 9:40pm. Tinker was born on Church Street in Rosman in the spring of 1941 on May 7th. She was 1 of 13 kids of the late Coy and Bertie Whitmire of Rosman. Preceding Tinker, were Brothers Ralph, Henry, Gordon, Marion Paul, Tom and J.C. "Bub" Whitmire, and adopted Brother Samuel Vaughn who parents Coy and Bertie raised from a boy. Sisters who preceded Tinker were Ethel Banks, Mae Franks and Elizabeth "Lib" Whitmire. Tinker is survived by her sister Joyce and husband James "Junior" McCall of Pisgah Forest, Older Brother Charles and wife Zita of Panama City Florida, and Special Brother David "Bubba" Whitmire of Morganton N.C. In Addition, Tinker is survived by Sons Ricky and wife Cathy Traylor and Michael and wife Rita Owen of Rosman. Grandsons are Shane Owen, Christopher and wife Ashley Owen and Corby and wife Susan Grooms. Great Grand Children are Mackenzie Owen and Taylor Grooms. Tinker will be missed by all her family members, and countless friends that she had throughout Transylvania County. A special thanks to lifelong friends Martha "Marth-Ann" Mathis of Rosman and her younger sister Sandra "Daddle" Lasater of Alaska, both of whom stayed in constant contact with Tinker throughout her life, and her first cousin Phyllis Thomas all of whom Tinker loved like sisters. The family would also like to thank lifelong friends Catherine Rogers, Carlos and June Pangle, Ray Von and Carolyn Galloway and Sharon Hogsed for their kindness, concern and friendship throughout the years. Sons Mike and Ricky would especially wish to thank The Staff at Davita Dialysis of Brevard and Dr. Aiello, Mission Hospital, Asheville Endocrinology and Dr. Jeffery Russell, Dr. Winifred Victoria Morehouse of Asheville Pediactrics and Internal Medicine, The Staff and Nurses from the Laurels of Hendersonville and Four Seasons Hospice and Compassion for Life for their efforts, compassion, understanding and care for Tinker during her final Years, Months, Days, Hours and Minutes on this earth. Tinker's request was that there would be NO service, and her wishes will be honored by her adoring and loving sons Mike and Ricky. In lieu of Flowers, the family ask that all or any Donations be made in Tinker's name to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, N.C. 28731.
