Douglas Preston Hampton Douglas Preston Hampton of the Silversteen Community went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2014. He passed away at his home in the mountains that he so loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Lowee Hampton, a son, Christopher, brothers, Harold and Randy, his father-in-law, Clyde Talley, a niece, Lynn Teague, and a nephew, Jeremy Littleton. Doug served in the United States Army and 12 years in the Army Reserves. He worked with the United States Forest Service for 38 years and loved his time working in these mountains. Doug is survived by his wife Joyce, his son, Denny (Susie), grandsons, Andy and Alex, sisters, Margaret Teague and Joyce Raines. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Brian Raines, sisters-in-law, Rose Littleton (Mike), Jan Rainey (Kenny), and Gail Rice (Darrell), mother-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Talley, and a number of special nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Thompson and Rev. David Dew officiating. Burial will follow in Mack McCall Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mack McCall Cemetery Fund, 1994 Macedonia Church Rd., Lake Toxaway, Lake Toxaway, NC 28747.
