Dr. Lucille Jordan Obituary

Dr. Lucille Fisher Galloway Jordan, aged 91: Public school teacher and administrator Dr. Lucille Jordan died on 15 Feb. after a mercifully short illness. A classroom teacher in three states before receiving her doctorate at UGa, she worked as Dir. of Program Dev. for the Atlanta schools, Associate State Superintendent of the Georgia schools, and Prof. of Education at UGa. She also served as national president of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and on the Rockefeller Council for the Arts. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Thurs., 21 Feb. at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Calvert, North Carolina; a memorial service will follow at Dunwoody Baptist Church in March. Survivors incl. a daughter, Noelle Nicole, a son-in-law, David Aaron Herrup, and a much loved granddaughter, Rachel Ming Herrup, numerous nieces (Marcia and Maria Johnson, Monalynn Carter, Paulette Lankford), a nephew, Kendall Glazener, and their spouses, as well as by a great niece, Abby Glazener. She was preceded in death by her husband, F.L.S. Jordan, her older sisters, Helen Galloway Huggins and Montaree Galloway Glazener, as well as her parents, Thomas Pleasant and Mamie Fisher Galloway. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to the Heifer Foundation and the Global Fund for Women.
