Floyd Robinson Obituary

Floyd Robinson, age 85 of Mills River passed away after a brief illness on Friday January 28, 2011. He was born June 7,1925 in Madison County to the late Hicks and Addie Anderson Robinson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Flossie Robinson, Julie Ray, Bonnie Smith, Ada Robinson, Ossie Tipton, Athlene Sales, Agnes Sayles and brothers Woodrow, Robert and Lloyd Robinson and a daughter Mary Louise Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a member of Boylston Baptist Church in Mills River and a former member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church in Asheville where he served in various positions. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat engineer and medic assistant in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe he retired from the construction Industry. He was a devoted and loving husband and father who loved the Lord and his family very much. He loved his church family and volunteered a lot of time to the church over the years. Survivors include his wife Lillian Moffitt Robinson of the home and former wife Beatrice Rice Robinson of Asheville, and five generations as follows sons; Gary Robinson and wife Kim, Dennis Robinson and Wife Teresa of Asheville and Felicia Nesbitt and husband Ronnie of HorseShoe, and grandchildren; Shane, Lacey, Kelcie, Landon and Jared Robinson, Chris and Corey Chomic of Asheville and Joshua and Ava Grace Nesbitt of HorseShoe,great-grandson Rakim Gaines of Asheville and great-great-grandson Jaden Gaines, stepson Grady Moffit and wife Shannon and step grandchildren Lisa, Janet and Alan Moffit. Funeral services will be held Sunday January 30, 2011 at 4:00pm at Boylston Baptist Church conducted by Rev. James (Jimmy) Burress. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm until 4:00pm prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Shane, Landon and Jared Robinson, Chris and Cory Chomic and great-grandson Rakim Gaines.
