Harry McCall Obituary

Lake Toxaway – Harry McCall, Jr., 76, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Harry McCall and Lora McCall Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dock Truett McCall. Mr. McCall was a veteran of the U. S. Army’s 101st Airborne and was a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was retired from Ford Motor Company. A former member of Bethany Assemblies of Dundee, MI, he was an avid outdoorsman and he loved Bluegrass music. Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. “Patti” McCall; sons, Kurt B. Lewis and wife Shaun of Ft. Myers, FL, and Vance E. Lewis and wife Kari of Augusta, GA; daughters, Tamara L. Bowe of Jasper, MI, and Laura E. McCall-Broome and husband Keith of Aviano, Italy; brother, Cleon McCall and wife Helena of Pisgah Forest; sisters, Lillian Zywot of Balsam Grove and Helen Smith of Pisgah Forest; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. James “Buster” McCall officiating. Burial will be in Mack McCall Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County. Immediately following the interment there will be a celebration of Harry’s life at the Pickin Porch. Memorial may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Friday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
