Hayes Anders Obituary

Hayes Mitchell Anders 88 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday May 13th, 2010.
Hayes was predeceased by his father and mother, Charlie Anders and Rosa Mathis Anders, two brothers, Asbul and Arnold Anders, and one sister Ruth Barger of East La Porte.
He was born May 24th 1921 in Tuckasegee, NC. He went to work for the CCC Camp, Company 408 in 1938 and served proudly for 16 months. He left there and went to work helping build roads in many areas including the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hayes was a home builder by trade and built many homes in NY. He came back to NC in 1974 and started building homes
in Brevard and close by. He also built around 50 homes in Connestee Falls where he made many, many friends, Hayes was known all over for being an honest builder who always gave extra to all his homeowners.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Vickie A. Anders; three daughters, Betty Giles (Bill) of Rosman, NC, Patricia Lawrence of Jonesville, KY, and Gail Schultz of Calif.; two sons Tom Anders (Karen) of Greenwood Village, CO, and Mitchell Anders of Pennsylvania; a stepson, Stephen Benner of San Antonio, TX; a stepdaughter, Lora Starling of Seneca, SC;
five brothers, Cline Anders (Wanda) of Rosman, Dwight Anders of Brevard, J.L. Anders (Val) of Etowah, NC, R.V. Anders (Faye) of Goldston, NC, Vernon Anders (Peggy) of Tuckasegee; two sisters, Shirley Meier(Charley) of Etowah, and Sue Cypher (Cliff) of Tuckasegee; grandchildren Michael Krauter (Kitty) of Brevard ,NC, Tina London (John) of Asheville, NC, Rachel Anders of Greenwood Village, CO, and Verlin Lucas of Kentucky; 8 great-grandchildren; one "Special" great-grand daughter, Jessica Krauter. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Jerry Anderson who was like a son to him. Jerry made his home with Hayes and Vickie; He was Hayes’ fishing buddy and helped Vickie as caregiver and Jerry showed Hayes unconditional love all the time; two "Special" friends, Earl Jenkins and Johnny King; a friend who was a blessing to Hayes and who helped us in so many ways during Hayes’ last days, Linda Pressley.
A very special thank you to Transylvania Regional Hospital Hospice nurses Tracy Holloway, Doris Tinsley, Joanie Ingle and John Winston, also, a "Special" lady, Mary Douglas Kimble.
Visitation will be at Moody Connolly Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May, 15th from 7-9 pm.
Burial will be later for family only and the family requests your consideration for their privacy.
Flowers are welcome and memorials may be made to Transylvania Hospice, or to a charity of your choice. Hayes left a legacy of honesty and love for the Lord that few people experience, and his prayer was that his family love the Lord as he did. The family will be at 50 Dillingham Rd.
