Henry Kazmer

Kazmer, Henry C. (“Hank”) 92, of Brevard, North Carolina died on Monday, June 4th at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Hank was born in Chicago on September 28, 1919 to Vincent and Rose (Urbanski) Kazmer, and grew up in Wadsworth, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Jovina (Schmitz) whom he married on May 3, 1947 in Wadsworth, Illinois and with whom he just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by 4 children, Vince (Lois) Kazmer of Hudson, Ohio, Karen Kazmer (David Walsh) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Steve (Jill) Kazmer of Wadsworth, Illinois, and David Kazmer of Hendersonville, and niece, Karla Moras of Merion, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Brad (Karen) Kazmer of Atlanta, Amanda (John) Kerins of Chatham, New Jersey, Amy Walsh of Vancouver, Rosalia Walsh of Vancouver, Greg Kazmer of San Diego, and Kevin Kazmer of Wadsworth and 3 great grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Kazmer of Atlanta, and Ella Kerins of Chatham, New Jersey. Hank graduated from Warren Township High School in 1936 and served his country as a member of the US Army during World War II. Hank was well known in the Waukegan, Illinois area due to his 43 years in automotive sales for Reed-Randle Motors. He was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wadsworth and St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Waukegan for many years and recently attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard. In 1992, Hank and Jovina left many dear friends and the Waukegan area to retire in the Hendersonville area. Here, they made many new friends and during retirement, Hank was a member of the Polish-American Club based in Hendersonville, the Glen Cannon Country Club in Pisgah Forest, and the Knights of Columbus in Brevard. Hank loved horticulture almost as much as golf, and earned Master Gardener status from the N.C. State University Extension Service. He was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Kazmer Moras and granddaughter Emily Kazmer. Funeral service will begin at 10:30am on Friday, June 15th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard. Mass will be followed by an Honor Guard ceremony and luncheon at the church. A private interment ceremony will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
