Howard Hyatt

Howard B. Hyatt, age 88, of Brevard, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019. He was the son of the late Ed and Elizabeth Ray Hyatt. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, JoVhenell Hyatt and two sisters, Margie Hall and Ruth Kimberly. Mr. Hyatt was a member of Carrs Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Director. Howard coached both softball and football in Brevard for many years. He taught for Transylvania County Schools for 36 years and many students considered him to be their favorite teacher. He was also a member of the Transylvania Rec Dept. where he coached girls softball and ran the concession stand. He proudly served his country in both the US Army and Marines. Survivors include two sons, Chuck Hyatt and wife Sherry of Jasper, TN and Jim Hyatt of Brevard, one daughter, Rachel Hyatt of Calhoun, GA, three grandchildren, Laura, April and Willie, 5 great grandchildren and his special companion, his dog, Ariel. Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Carrs Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Shane Hardesty officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6pm-8pm at Carrs Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Carrs Hill Baptist Church, 2719 Greenville Hwy, Brevard, NC 28712. Online condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com.
