Brevard – James N. "Greasy" Galloway of Brevard passed away April 9th, 2016 at Transylvania Regional Hospital with family members by his side. He was a resident of Kingsbridge House for the last 6 years. He was born in Jackson County on July 5, 1924 to the late Cornelius Galloway and Marie Galloway Meece. He moved to Transylvania County at the age of 16. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation after 28 years of service. He also worked with many of the local farmers. He is preceded in death by an infant son, Travis Ronnie, brothers Clinton, Lewis, Floyd, Doyle, Lester and Boyd Galloway, sisters Louise Cody and Helen Fowler. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Ophelia Chappell Galloway; daughters Gladys (J.D.) Owen of Brevard, Deloris (Edward) McCall of Pisgah Forest, Carolyn Berkshire of Brevard, Evelyn Owen of Brevard, Lisa Faye (Melvin) Francis of Six Mile, SC; sons Charles (Marie) Galloway of Grove Town, GA, Carl (Charlene) Galloway of Cedar Mountain, Stanley (Pat) Galloway of Lake Toxaway, John Earl (Diane) Galloway of Brevard; brother Harold Galloway of Rosman; sisters Donna Vee Hamilton of Brevard, Dorothy King of Fayetteville, Carol Hannon of Six Mile, SC. He had 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. He had many nieces and nephews. He was loved dearly by his family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday April 12, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the chapel of Moody Connolly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Moody Connolly Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Rev. Benson Galloway is officiating.
