Marietta, SC – Janice J. Lawter Owen, 78, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Frances Chastain Lawter. She was preceded in death by her son, James Darryl Owen; brothers Charles Lawter and his wife Pat and Gary David Owen. A native of Transylvania County, Mrs. Owen was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She was a school bus driver and was very fond of all of her passengers. She was a loving sister, mom and grandmother. Survivors include her son; Don Owen and wife Lavonda of Marietta, SC, daughters; Janet Chandler and husband Steve of Marietta, SC, Franita Moon of Marietta, SC and Deborah D. Haulter and husband Eddie, Jr. of Marietta, SC, brother; James Owen and wife Kathy of Newnan, Ga, sisters; Joanne Adams of Balsam Grove, Brenda Gerczak and husband Sonny of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Wanda Ledford of Brevard and Barbara Warren of Mooresville, NC, grandchildren; Shanna, Joshua, Jennifer, Megan, Lewis, T. C., Miranda, Christopher, Anthony and Adam.; thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Owen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
