Jimmy Miller Obituary
Jimmy G. Miller, Sr. of Etowah passed away Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 at Pardee Hospital. He was the son of the late Clifford Miller and Opal Bishop Harper. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Edward Harper and Dallas Eugene Harper and a sister Carolyn Harper Clemmons.
A native of Asheville, he spent 4 years in the Marine Corps. He then worked for Swift Packing in Asheville, managed Brevard Bowling Center for several years and also worked for Ecusta Paper Corporation in Pisgah Forest for 28 years, retiring in 1999.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home. Sons: Jimmy Miller Jr. Of Asheville, NC, Michael Miller and his wife Donna of Leicester, NC, Terry Miller of Brevard, NC and Jay Miller and his wife Becky of Brevard, NC. Daughters: Melinda Gaddy and her husband Eric of Leicester, NC, Janelle Moore and her husband Ricky of Candler, NC, and Christy Shipman of Brevard, NC. Stepsons: Allen Pace and his wife Jodi of Winston, GA and Blayne Pace and his wife Kelley of Dallas, GA. Brothers: Ronnie Harper of Asheville, NC and Jerry Harper and his wife Deborah of Asheville, NC. Sisters: Shirley Banks and her husband Jack of Asheville, NC, Ginger Holt and her husband Robert of Asheville, NC, and Marketta Waldrop and her husband Lester of Travelerâs Rest, SC.
He is also survived by twenty one grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16th, 2010 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family extends special thanks to all of his caregivers at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville and Mission Hospital in Asheville.
In leiu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Pardee Hospital Foundation Chaplaincy Service.
