Brevard – Joan Nathalie Smith Barrie, 87, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Alvin and Jenny “Kitty” Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband Walter Barrie. Mrs. Barrie was a member of Brevard Community Church. Being an avid bowler, she was the 2009 NC Senior Bowling Champion and the 2015 Regional Senior Bowling Champion. She was a retired nurse and was employed at Ingles of Brevard in the deli. Surviving are her children; Lynn Pressley (Marty), Robin Moffitt (Hank), Leland Barrie (Candi) and Sean Barrie (Leah); nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Following a private graveside, a Memorial Service will be held 2pm, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Brevard Community Church with the Revs. Hank Moffitt and Todd Alewine officiating.
