Joann Brown
Brevard - Joann Clayton Brown, 73, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, peacefully at her residence. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Volney Clayton and Louise Lance Clayton Barton, and was the wife of the late Hayes Brown. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Carroll Clayton, and sisters, Lila Mae, Ella Mae, and Josephine Clayton. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Rosman Church of God. Surviving are her daughter, Diann Parton of Pisgah Forest; sons, Ricky Brown and wife Cathy of Rosman, Danny Brown and wife Melissa of Lake Toxaway, and David Brown and wife Tracy of Cedar Mountain; sisters, Carolyn Laughter and husband James “Bud” Laughter of Hendersonville; Betty Queen and husband Roger of Rosman, and Ilean Butler of Philomath, OR; brother, J. C. Clayton of Asheville; grandchildren, Brian and Justin Parton, Carrie, Megan, and Kristen Brown, Candace and Trey Brown, and Caroline and Cassie Dockery; great-grandchildren, Sierra and Kadence Parton; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the Rosman Church of God with the Revs. Mike Pressley and Dale Pressley officiating. Burial will be in the Woodring Cemetery, Tuckasegee. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Thursday at the church.Obituary
