John was employed by General Motors in Detroit and retired from Ecusta in 1998 after 42 years. He served as the Chairman of the COPE Committee for the United Paper Workers local 1971. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Bagwell Dills, and seven sisters. Survivors include his sons Jim Dills (Sheri), Keith Dills (Myla), grandson John Parker, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. John and Mary moved to Fletcher, but their hearts remained firmly in Transylvania County. He enjoyed lunch at the Pisgah Fish Camp visiting family and friends. He loved to hunt and fish, raise cattle, he was an avid reader, thoroughly enjoyed Classic Westerns, and was a die-hard Braves fan.
