Lucile Cooper Obituary

Lucile Cox Cooper, 92, of Pisgah Forest, passed away July 24, 2019 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Sula Hamet Cox. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas F. Cooper Sr. and by her son Thomas Cooper Jr. and grandson Thomas Cooper III (TC). Her sister, Claudia Cornell and brothers Ed and Frazier Cox also preceded her in death. Lucile is survived by four children, Eunice Frady (Calvin), Susan Moore, Luther Cooper (Myra), and Sarah Reid (Marty). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Matt Frady, Alissa Cook, Jennifer Worley, Aubrey Moore, Chas Moore, Kimberlee Cooper, Krystin Littleton, Justin Cooper, and Blakely Crain. She was the proud great-grandmother of Wyatt and Grant Frady; Savanna, Hope and Sawyer Cook; Max Worley; Emerson and River Wiles; Clara Moore and Morgan Littleton. Extended family was important to Lucile. She is also survived by brother-in-law Joe Cooper, son-in-law Myron Moore and several beloved nephews and nieces. Lucile was a life-long member of Enon Baptist Church where she served in many roles, including children’s ministry and as a member of the cemetary committee. She enjoyed recording, preserving and sharing the church history. Having grown up and attended school in the Enon community, she had memories and stories that she loved to tell. Lucile worked for Ecusta Corporation from 1945-1950. After raising her family she worked in various Transylvania County schools. She valued education and loved reading. She especially enjoyed working in the library at Brevard High School. She was always delighted when a former student would recognize her and share memories. A celebration of Lucile’s life will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday August 1, 2019 at Enon Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4531 Old Hendersonville Hwy, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768.
