Marcus Laws Jr.

Marcus Wesley Laws Jr., age 87, of Pisgah Forest died Wednesday August 31,2011 at the Elizabeth House. He was born January 18, 1924 in Yancey County to the late Marcus Wesley Laws Sr. and Augusta King Laws. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Denise McCall and five brothers; Charles, Arnold, Rothie, Lloyd and Clarence Laws. Mr. Laws was an ordained Baptist Deacon and a member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church. He retired from Ecusta Corporation after over fifty years of service. He was a skilled wood craftsman and made most of the furniture in their home along with numerous gifts for family and friends. He loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers in his yard. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite McCann Laws of the home, one daughter; Marcia Delores Whitmire and her husband Douglas of Bel Air, Maryland, one granddaughter Elizabeth Lapointe and her husband Steven Lapointe of Bel Air Maryland, one great-granddaughter; Sarah Elizabeth Lapointe of Bel Air Maryland, their foster daughter Mona Ghobrial of Toronto, Canada, one sister; Marie Laws of Burnsville, two brothers; S.C. Laws of Burnsville and Wayne Laws of Marion, one son-in-law Ricky McCall of Horseshoe. Memorial services will be held Saturday September 3, 2011 at 11:00am at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. David Spray and Rev. Bobby Owings.
