Mildred Stamey

Cedar Mountain – Mildred Shelton Stamey, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2016. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Bessie Haney Shelton and was the wife of the late Lester J. Stamey. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Mason Owen, and a brother, Eugene “Bo” Shelton. Mrs. Stamey loved Jesus and loved her family. Survivors include her daughters, Colita S. Barton and husband Ken of Brevard, Karen Stamey of Pisgah Forest, and Lisa S. Moss and husband Dwayne of Brevard; sons, Dewey J. “Pete” Stamey and wife Kathy of Mills River, Edward Lee Stamey of Cedar Mtn., and Roger Brian Stamey and wife Joy of Cedar Mtn.; sister, Lucille Shelton Shipman of Brevard; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, July 3, 2016 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. On line condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
