Philip Shuford

Philip Ronald Shuford Pisgah Forest – Philip Ronald Shuford, 75, went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2014. He was a native of Yancey County, NC and was the son of the late Joseph Fred and Velma Silver Shuford. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine. Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from E.I. DuPont in 1991. He was an active member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Ron had a deep love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family, and church. He enjoyed taking vacations across the United States with those he loved, hunting trips out west with many of his friends, and taking numerous mission trips including South Africa and Ukraine. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, camping, bluegrass music, and changing his own vehicle oil. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Hope Hughes Shuford; son, Jeff and wife Carolyn of Pisgah Forest; daughter. Marsha Early and husband Jud of Brevard; grandchildren, Dakota Buchanan, Avery Shuford, Judson Early, and Addison Shuford; siblings, Marilyn Young, Tommy Shuford, Sharon Shuford, Gary Shuford and Dena Hensley all of Burnsville, and Richard Shuford of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Holland and Rev. Raymond Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Turkey Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 PM Saturday at the church.
