Randolph Harrison Smith passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at home. He was born September 9, 1946 and is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Harrison Smith of High Point, NC. He was a graduate of High Point Central High School in 1963. He earned a highly coveted Hard-wood Lumber Inspector Certification from the National Hardwood Lumber Association Inspec-tor Training School in Memphis, TN. Randy was a proud Veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-70. He graduated from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, SC. He was a purchasing agent and then a courier in the Vietnam War. He returned to the US and was Vice President of McEwen Lumber Company based in High Point, NC. He then opened Randy’s Outdoorsman Shop with an indoor gun range in 1982 because of his love for hunting, fishing, and people. Randy never met a stranger and enjoyed running his shop for many years. After having open heart surgery in 1994, he traveled to Montana to continue recuperation which engendered his love for the Montana landscape. Randy and his wife Mary Allen Smith have always believed in giving back to their communities and are longtime supporters of education, veterans, their church, and numerous fam-ilies in need. They are members of The Baptist Church of Beaufort, SC. Whether helping chil-dren in Montana or Veterans in South Carolina Randy felt a true calling to help those in need.
