Ray Fisher

Howard Ray Fisher, age 87, of Lake Toxaway passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2011. He was born September 18, 1923 in Jackson County, NC, to Warren Isaiah and Edith Monteith Fisher. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Mable Kitchen Fisher; sons Glen Fisher and wife, Wanda; Keith Fisher and TC Thomas; and daughter Bobbi Powell and husband, Billy. Grandchildren are Lynette Conard and husband, Tony; Darlene Griffin and husband, Allen; Paige Aiken and husband, Robert; April McNeely and husband, Mack. His great-grandchildren are Addison and Cambell Conard, Mason Griffin, Kendall and Riley Aiken, and Alex, Avery, and Liam McNeely . He is also survived by his brother, Dick Fisher, his sisters, Dorothy Rogers, and Ruby Pruitt and husband, Bob. He has two sisters-in-law: Frances Fisher and Linda Fisher, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Larry “Cotton” Fisher; two brothers: Ben Fisher and Jim Fisher; two sisters: Lucy Owen, and Willie Bryson; and one grandson: Linville Keith Fisher, Jr. Ray and Mable have been long-standing members of Macedonia Baptist Church. He worked 39 years at Olin/Ecusta in Brevard, NC, and retired in 1989. Ray was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved to travel. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, April 1st at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church where he will also be buried. If preferred, donations will be accepted to Macedonia Baptist Church or Hospice at Transylvania Regional Hospital.
