Richard Hardaway Doyle

Brevard - Richard Hardaway Doyle, 72, passed away on May 21, 2020 in his home. Dick will always be remembered as someone who never met a stranger. He was born on February 2, 1948, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Donald and Elizabeth Doyle. Dick was a graduate of Loyola University and pursued a career in residential and commercial development. He was owner of Doyle Development, Inc., established Northshore Landscaping, and was also a member of many environmental causes and community boards, using his love of the environment to make the world a more beautiful place and preserve it for future generations. He thought nothing was more inspiring than a walk in the forest with all the secrets of nature. He was also passionate about his volunteer work at Sharing House for over 10 years. Dick is survived by his loving wife, soul mate, and best friend, Joanni, and was loved and will be sorely missed by his seven children and step-children: Andree Doyle, Richard Doyle, Elizabeth Doyle Tierney (Dan), Shelly Hoffman Carter (Hutch), Chris Hoffman (Diana), Lara Traylor (Mike), and Becky McMillen. He was also adored by his six grandchildren who loved hearing his wonderful stories and magical way of telling them: Finn Tierney, Cate Tierney, Emma Walker, Emily Carter, Sarah Carter, and Blake Traylor. Dick was the “heart” (middle) of his eight siblings: Beth Sames, Don Doyle, Cynthia Carriere, Bronson Doyle, David Doyle, Mary Caldwell, Louise Richardson, and Warren Doyle. The family wishes to thank Messino Cancer Center, Dr. Beardsley, Erica, Karen, CarePartners, and all the family and friends who were there for support and care. On your next walk in the forest or on a mountain top, please smile and think of Dick. A celebration of Dick’s life will be announced and held at a later date. Those who wish to remember him in a special way may make memorial donations to Sharing House, 164 Duckworth Ave, Brevard, NC 28712.
