Victor N. “Vic” Hollingsworth died peacefully at the Carriage Club of Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, April 23, 2014. He was the son of the late Leander Webster and Victoria Neill Hollingsworth. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Clampitt Hollingsworth and a number of brothers, sisters, and cousins. He was born on November 22, 1923 in the Pink Beds area of Pisgah Forest, NC and grew up catching fawns for the U. S. Forest Service agents to increase the population. He helped build the English Chapel along the shore of the Davidson River. He lived a long life taking care of God’s creation as a lumber worker with Carr Lumber in Pisgah Forest. He was a World War II Army Master Sergeant and a member of the National Guard. He was a Forest Ranger in the Pisgah Forest, Nantahala, Uwharrie, and Croaton districts for over 30 years. He was also a heavy equipment operator for Cantrell Construction on a number of projects which still can be seen in the Pisgah Forest and Brevard areas. He was an exceptional son, nephew, husband and grandfather who lived out his strong faith and passed it on to his family by demonstration. He is survived by his sons, Gary Hollingsworth of Denver, NC, Dwight Hollingsworth and wife, Sarah of Matthews, NC, a sister in law, Jessie Clampitt Crane of Brevard, and granddaughters, Victoria and Elizabeth. A private graveside service was held. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity as Vic believed in sharing your blessings with others.
