William Henson

William Douglas “Doug” Henson Brevard – William Douglas “Doug” Henson, 77, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the John F. Keever Solace Center, Asheville, NC. Mr. Henson was born in Norton, NC, but lived most of his life in Brevard. He was the son of the late William “Bill” Henson and Wilma Monteith Henson. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Air Force and was retired from Ecusta/P. H. Glatfelter. Mr. Henson loved canoeing, whitewater rafting and hiking. He enjoyed traveling and watching the boats go by on the Intracoastal Waterway. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Frances “Snookie” Waters Henson, who was by his side at the end; two daughters, Kathy Henson of Winston-Salem, and Susan Henson of Winston-Salem; sister, Kathleen Talbot and husband Harold of Asheville; his beloved dog, Cody. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 4, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. Mary Hinkle Shore officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Friday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John F. Keever Solace Center, 21 Belvedere Rd., Asheville, NC 28803, or to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 22 Fisher Rd., Brevard, NC 28712.
