Ms. Theresa “Terri” Powell Mason, age 56 passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with Rev. Jim Strickland officiating. Terri was born November 27, 1961 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of Lois McMillan Powell of Charlotte and the late Darrell E. Powell. She started working at the Charlotte Observer part time while in high school. Not long after, she was hired full time, and after 30 years of dedicated service, she retired from there. Terri was an active member of the University City Women’s Group and was an avid supporter of the Second Harvest Food Bank. She enjoyed reading, loved doing puzzles and traveling. Terri’s life meant so much to those who knew and loved her, and she will be missed beyond measure. In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Tina P. Martin and husband, Ken of Charlotte; nieces, Dallas Eaves and husband, Jason of Louisville, MS and Danelle Swaney and husband, Matt of Denver, NC; great-niece, Rhylan Eaves of Louisville, MS and nephew, Jayce Swaney of Denver, NC; uncle, Dean McMillan of Tavares, FL, uncle and aunt, Howard and Hilda Powell of Sebastian, FL; a host of other loving relatives and friends, and the canine loves of her life, Zoey and Shelby, who brought sunshine to Terri’s life every day.
