Debra Bailey

Debra Ann Bailey (West) was born June 30, 1961 in Lowndes County, Columbus Mississippi to Glenn Eugene West and Margie Lee Nabors. She departed life on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, North Carolina after sharing 56 years with her family and loved ones. Debra was a 1979 graduate of Pine Forest Senior High School and a 1983 graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. After graduation Debra was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Her first duty station was Dyess, Air Force Base in Texas where she served with honor for 4 years, leaving active military service in 1997. At an early age Debra loved the dramatic arts and often acting in plays and providing dramatic interpretations of her favorite TV shows and characters to her friends and family. She also loved to bake and cook and collected hundreds of recipes that she would often prepare and share with family and friends. Her cookbook collection numbers in the hundreds covering all cuisines and regions of the world. A loving daughter, sister and mother she leaves to cherish her loving memory: the father, Glenn E. West and the devoted mother, Margie L. West of Spring Lake, North Carolina; her only child, Valorie Vyctoria Bailey of Winston Salem, North Carolina; her sister, Sharon Surratt (West) and brother-in-law, Grayln Surratt of Fountain, Colorado; her brother, Lawrence West and sister-inlaw, Kristi West of Mclean, Virginia; In addition to her immediate family, there are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends that loved her very much.
