John McLean

John W. McLean was born April 17, 1950 to the late Joe and Ethel Q. McLean in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on December 8, 2017 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, North Carolina. He graduated from Laurinburg Institute Private School and later enlisted in the Unites States Army. John was hospitalized at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for about six months where he met Betty, his nurse/caregiver. She helped nourish him back to health and they later fell in love, and shortly after they were married and began to raise their family together. John was a dump truck driver and was employed by a few companies. Music was his life. He loved old school one of all-time favorite songs were “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” he would play that song and dance in the middle of the floor, even though he wasn’t a dancer he gave his all. He was really good with his four sons whom he adored. John was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild; and four sisters. John leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Betty J. McLean of Fayetteville, NC; four sons, William Dixon (Carol) of Stafford, VA, Otaga Lamar McLean, Travis Joe McLean (Shanee) and John Wilton, Jr. (Joann) all of Woodbridge,VA; two sisters, Elizabeth Poe Allen of Crew, VA and Gwendolyn Loftin of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren; and a host of other family members, nieces and nephews.
