Barbara Hazazer

FRANKLIN – Barbara Wenders Hazazer, 76, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, she previously lived in south Florida before settling in Franklin in 1978. She attended Florida State University and Florida Atlantic University. She taught elementary school in Deerfield Beach, FL, Highlands and Franklin, NC, then worked for many years at Progressive Building Products and later, as a Real Estate Broker/Owner of Hazy Acre Realty. She was active in the Franklin community over the years with Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (President, Secretary, Treasurer), The Franklin Garden Club (President, Secretary), the Historical Society (President, Treasurer), Franklin Lions Club (Third Vice President), Gem Country Republican Club (Treasurer). She loved to travel and was able to visit many places around the world. She found joy in entertaining and hosted many parties at her home in Franklin and at her lake house in Hayesville. As a Master Gardener, her beautiful landscaping, flower gardens, and vegetable gardens were the envy of many people. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; playing games and exploring new places. She is survived and will be missed by her husband, Dan Hazazer; her sister, Karen Miklos of Aiken, SC and brother, Buzz Miklos of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Christie Bunting McVay of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Tracy Bunting-Early (Stephen) of Landenberg, PA, and Beth Bunting of Cary, NC; three stepchildren, Martha Hazazer Fyfe (Scott) of Clarksville, MD, Suzy (Q) Hazazer Hutchinson of Franklin, NC, and Robert Stoup of Franklin, NC; seven grandchildren, Connor McVay, Daniel Fyfe, Cameron Kate McVay, Jackson Fyfe, Ada Lea Early, Grace Stoup and Garret Stoup; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. A Memorial will be held at 5 pm Saturday, September 14, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home.
