Beverley Weeks Guffie

Beverley Weeks Guffie, 67, of Montgomery City, MO, passed away on March 9, 2019, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Beverley was born October 8, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late William (Bill) H. Weeks and Mary Francis Weeks. She was the second of five children and grew up predominantly in Clarkston, Georgia. Beverley attended Clarkston High School and was a graduate of the University of Georgia, Class of 1973, receiving a Bachelor of Art in Social Work. Beverley then attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, receiving her Master of Religious Education in 1975. While at Southern Seminary, she met and married her husband of forty-three years, Dr. Jim D. Guffie on April 13, 1975. Beverly worked for 24 years as a Social Service Worker for the State of Missouri's Children's Division, touching many lives of the children and families that she served. She loved taking trips with her family, shopping for great deals, and listening to Trisha Yearwood. After retiring, Beverley enjoyed travel, reading, quilting, planting flowers and playing in the dirt. Beverley's favorite place was the beach, spending a lot of time on the Gulf of Mexico sitting in the sand and surf. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially on the beach. Throughout Beverley's battle with cancer, Beverley often said that she was "Choosing Joy". Beverley constantly tried to find the joy in life and strove to teach this lesson by example. Throughout her struggle, Bev was sustained by her faith.
