Edith Belding

Edith Pauline Hanson Belding, 93, of Franklin, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017. She was the loving and devoted wife of Robert Belding who predeceased her. They shared 67 wonderful years of marriage together. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elof “Harry” Hanson and Ruth Fredman Hanson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianna Gilbert. Edith was a US Marine Corps veteran and served during WWII. She resided in Hyde Park NY for 32 years and was employed at Western Publishing in Poughkeepsie NY prior to retiring to Franklin NC. She loved caring for her family and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed watching old movies and also keeping an organic garden every year. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Belding and his wife Edwina, four granddaughters, Amy and Molly Gilbert and Valerie and Joanna Belding, dear friend Gerri Lee Bunn, a sister-in-law Ellinor Billick and many beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service and burial will be held at a later date at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Franklin, NC. Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
