Herschel "Rex" Larkin

Herschel "Rex" Larkin died April 7, 2017, after a short illness in Franklin, NC, at the age of 70. Born in Augusta, GA, to Mary Ann Toole Larkin and Herschel “Stretch” Larkin, he graduated with a BA in journalism from the University of Georgia in 1970. He spent many years in Savannah, GA, as a painting contractor and real estate investor. Known as Rex to his friends, he was a volunteer for 23 years for the Coastal Heritage Society. More recently in Franklin, he volunteered for four years at the Senior Services Adult Day Care. He was also a dedicated member of the Franklin Gem and Mineral Society where he loved interaction with the visitors. He is survived by one son, Paul Eric Larkin of Augusta, GA; brothers, Chris Larkin and his wife Lou and Steve Larkin both of Augusta and Rick Larkin and his wife Esther of Arrington, VA; two nephews, three nieces, one great-niece and his companion of many years, Carol Rollick of Franklin. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences can be made at maconfuneralhome.com
