Hope Calloway

Hope Laverne Hedden Calloway, 68, of Cullowhee, NC, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017. Born in Jackson Co, she was the daughter of the late J. Quince Hedden and Emma Stewart Hedden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by step-grandson, Jason Mathes; two sisters, Hester Keener and Barbara Ledford and one brother, Dwight Hedden. Hope worked as a real estate broker and loved to read. She was a member of Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, William “Bill” Calloway; two sons, Brent Buchanan and wife Debi and Kellen Buchanan both of Cullowhee; step-son, Thomas Chad Calloway of West Palm Beach, FL; five sisters, June Hedden of Lilburn, GA, Mary Keener of Highlands, Shelba McFarland of Virginia Beach, VA, Helen Justice of Hendersonville, NC and Alice Lee of Knoxville, TN; one grandson, Cayden Buchanan; step-grandson, Johnny Mathes Jr. and wife Kim; nine step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31st at Yellow Mtn. Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Rogers and Rev. Scotty Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 p.m., prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Stewart, Jeff Stewart, Mark Justice, Paul Dalton, Olin Vinson and Buddy Miller.
