John S. Ohlson, 71, of Franklin, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017. Born in Summitt, NJ, he was the son of the late Nils Oscar Weston Ohlson and Marion Sieder Ohlson. John was a very active member of Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of Franklin Health and Fitness Center where he enjoyed swimming. He was a retired engineer and builder, who had served in the Peace Corps in Kenya and lived in Peru, California, and for 20 years in Australia. He is survived by three children, Nicholas Ohlson of Melbourne, Australia, Ashley Ohlson of London, England and Audrey Daniels of Chesterfield, Missouri; two sisters, Joan Ohlson of Southold, NY and Judy Filusch of Ft. Collins, CO and one grandson, Jake Daniels. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26 at Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Susan German will officiate. A gathering will follow to meet the family and share memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 4668 Old Murphy Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
