Randy Connell Payne

Randy Connell Payne, age 65, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Caromont Regional in Gastonia. Born in Mecklenburg County on June 6, 1955, he was the son of the late Donald Lamar and Eulanda Va Whitesides Payne. Randy grew up in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Boy Scouts in his youth. Over the years, Randy worked with Gaston Rentals, Utiliquest, and W. H. Rogers, having various responsibilities for each company. He enjoyed watching Panthers Football games with his son and Atlanta Braves with his dad. He enjoyed visiting his daughter and taking her on father, daughter dates for Chinese Food. In his younger years, he could be found fishing in his grandmother’s pond. Randy is survived by his daughter, Celeste Pauline Payne of Daytona Beach FL, a son, Travis Bryan Johnson of Fort Mill SC; a sister, Donna Woodie and husband Randy of Burnsville; a niece, Loren Woodie Johnson of Forest City; and many other loving family members. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 in the chapel of A Simple Service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Brack East officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
