Sarah Elizabeth Chapman, 70, born March 7th,1947 to the late Charles and Zadie Dillard, passed away June 11th, 2017 surrounded by her family-after enduring a long courageous battle with COPD. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Traci Cathey of Mount Holly, her granddaughter, Summer Cathey of Charlotte, grandson, Kinser Cathey of New York, companion of 30 years, George Fincher of Central SC, brother, Hubert Dillard and sister, Margaret Poole and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by brothers Alfred, Jerry and CJ Dillard and a sister Aileen Snodgrass. Sarah was an avid animal lover and had many nicknames such as Surry, Sissy and Beth but her most favorite of all was Memaw to Summer and Kinser of whom she adored and loved to take camping and fishing while they were growing up. We will miss her immensely but take comfort in knowing that she is pain free and breathing easier in Heaven. Many thanks to the staff of Stanley Total Living Center for their compassionate care of her & our family during this difficult time. Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17th, 2017 at the Bumgardner Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors Belmont, NC. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
