Rachel J. McAllister Matthews, North Carolina Obituary

Rachel J. McAllister

Rachel Jackson McAllister, 74, of Charlotte, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville. Rachel was born July 24, 1938, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She was one of seven children and was the daughter of the late Clyde Harrison Jackson and Mae Allen Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Baxter McAllister, and her brothers, Bud, Rick, and Steve Jackson. Rachel spent a career with Bell South Telecommunications and retired from that company in the area of technical support after 32 years of service. She was a proud member of Ebenezer ARP Church in Charlotte. From arts and crafts to writing, she excelled in almost everything she tried. She even sounded great singing, but just when she wanted to show off. She will also be remembered for her cooking. Rachel was a precious and understanding individual. A woman of strong faith, she was an unselfish and loving mother and grandma that will be dearly missed by all those that knew her. Always leading by example, it is the desire of the family to maintain that strength and grace she lived by. The family would also like to thank Betty Yates and the Yates family for all the love and kindness through the years. Survivors include her children, Tammie McAllister and her husband, Richard Lowe, of Charlotte, and Fred B. McAllister, Jr. of Lake Wylie, SC; her brother, Herman Jackson; two sisters, Judy Mae England, and Ann Jackson Hess; three grandchildren, Rachel J. Sigmon, Tara R. Lafferty, and Katie L. Lafferty. "Have I not commanded you? be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."- Joshua 1:9 -
