Alice “Polly” Goforth Hill, age 90, of Forest City, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at Oakland Living Center. A native of Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Julia Rema Goforth Yancey. Polly was a homemaker and a member of Spencer Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Chris Travis and wife Libby of Forest City; daughter Frankie Williams and husband Ernest of Maiden, NC, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel N. Hill, sister Evelyn Hedrick and brother J.C. Yancey. Funeral services will be held 3PM Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Spencer Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Caldwell and Rev. Billy Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Cliffside Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spencer Baptist Church Missions Fund, 187 N. Oak Street, Spindale, NC 28160.
