Aline Epley Champion, age 83, of Forest City, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Hospice House. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Badger and Lula Haynes Epley. Aline was a loving wife and mother. She was a homemaker and longtime member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Aline is survived by her husband of 63 years Howard Champion of the home; sons Steve Champion and wife Jackie of Forest City, Robert Champion and wife Robin of Forest City; daughter Christine Hutchins of Bostic; four grandchildren, Todd Champion, BJ Champion, Brandy Pringle and Heather Burns; six great grandchildren; brother Vernon Epley of Rutherfordton; sisters, Ethel Owens of Forest City, Betty Lou Hudgins of Marion, Marie Davis of Marion, Joyce Ann Toney of Lake Lure and Louise Cuthbertson of Rutherfordton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Etta Millard, and brothers Elvin, Edward and James Epley. Funeral services will be held 12PM Friday, December 13, 2013 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Courtney and Rev. Richard Bass officiating. Interment will be private in the church cemetery.
