Amos Philbeck

Amos Hammon Philbeck, age 99, of 446 Textile Dr. Spindale passed away Monday Jan. 14, 2013 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Hammon was a native of Rutherford County, retired from Stonecutter Mill where he was a weave room supervisor and was a member of Spindale United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his wife Hazel Philbeck, daughter Lucille Fincannon and her husband Bobby, parents Joe and Mattie Philbeck, grandson David Hammon Fincannon. Left to cherish his memory is a daughter Barbara Higgins and her husband Harlan of Forest City; grandson John Higgins of Rutherfordton, granddaughters Christina High and Cathy Parnell both of Nashville, Tn.; great grandchildren Alley, Cole, Charlie, Heather, Bobby Joe, Timmy and Samantha; a number of great great grandchildren including two special children Tamia and Caylee. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday January 16, 2013 at Spindale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Burial will be at Eternal Hills. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County or Spindale United Methodist Church.
