Arline P. Gilson, 97 of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away at 10:55 AM, March 9, 2010 at Hospice House in Forest City, NC Born on July 8, 1912 in Mifflintown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Susan B. Potter. Her husband, Kenneth M. Gilson preceded her in death on January 15, 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Foshie and her husband Edward, and one grandson, Rick Foshie. Also surviving are a great granddaughter and two great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were five brothers, Harry Potter, Frank Potter, Marlon Potter, Ed Potter and Ralph Potter, and three sisters, Edna Howell, Marian Shellenberger and Mabel Potter. Before retirement Arline operated the branch post office in Port St. Lucie, FL where she lived prior to moving to Rutherfordton in 1986. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting and cross stitching. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church of Rutherfordton. Services will be at 2 PM Saturday, March 13 at Crowe’s Mortuary in Rutherfordton with the Rev. Greg Huntley and Dr Herman Nodine officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
