Arthur Amos

Marion Arthur Amos, age 88, of the Gilkey Community passed away Monday February 1 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Forest City. Arthur was a native of Spartanburg County, SC, a retired Navy Veteran of WW II and a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Mae Amos, parents Steadman Mathew and Minnie Florence Price Amos, a sister Amelia Houck and sons Scott and Rick Padgett. Left to cherish his memory is his children Mary Ray (Mark) of Summerville, SC, Matthew Amos of Moss Bluff, La., Jacqui Arrowood of Spindale, Shull (Pat) Padgett of Rutherfordton, Joy (Kirk) Saunders of Asheville, Mike ( Frannie) Padgett of Asheville, Bill (Kim) Padgett of Rutherfordton and a sister Jean Fortenbary of Gaffney, SC, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, special nieces and the most wonderful church family. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles McClure officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends following the service. Crowe’s Mortuary is assisting the Amos family. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice
