Bernice Mock, 72, of Rutherfordton, died Wednesday, February 2 at her home. A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Alma Whitesides Carpenter. She was a retired certified nursing assistant and was a member of Gold Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist. She is survived by four daughters, Sharon Jackson and husband Doug of Forest City, Macy Carpenter of Rutherfordton, Pamela Mock of Rutherfordton and Yahative Davis and husband Travis of Rutherfordton; two grandchildren, Bryan Jackson and Travis Zachary Davis; one great grandchild Clayton Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mock, a brother Horace Carpenter Jr and a sister, Margaret Carpenter Price. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 5 at 3:00PM at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Fred Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Gold Hill Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
